This is the second part of the blog entitled “Why do we do the opposite of what we want to do?” If you want to read it, press here.

I would like to share with you these 3 tips to start living according to His promises and not according to your current circumstances or your emotional condition, which means: living by faith and not by sight.

1.     PREPARE TO RECEIVE HIS PROMISES.

The Word of God contains many truths. The promises of God are truths that you have to receive them not only as information in your head, but if you let them come into your heart and you obey them, they will transform your life, and above all, you must receive them with Gratitude. When you are grateful, you can obey Him. Obedience is the key, the only way to demonstrate God that we love him. The enemy wants to make us doubt, but we need to stand still in each of the promises that God has given us.  God is not human, that He should lie, not a human being, that He should change His mind. God is faithful and able to fulfill each one of His promises. God never fails.

2.     TAKE YOUR WEAPONS.

The promises of God are your weapons against your enemies. If you hold on to God’s promises and to the Word of God, you can resist all the enemy’s arguments and make your feelings and thoughts obey Christ. These are some promises that God gives us:

  • If you have financial problems or don’t have the strength to continue:

Psalm 23:1: “The Lord is my Shephard; I shall not want”.

  • If you are worried about your future and you have doubts in your mind:

Psalm 37:25: “…yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.”

  • If you have to make important decisions or feel overwhelmed or stressed:

Philippians 4: 7: “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”.

3.     PRAYER AND WORSHIP.

In the book of John 4:23, the Lord Jesus said that God seeks true worshipers that will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth. God is Spirit, and we must seek Him in the same way.  We should worship at all times and in every area of our lives, if we try to honor God. Romans 12: 1-2 says: "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing, and perfect will".

The process of renewing our thoughts and attitudes doesn’t happen simply by the years we have been to church. They can only be renewed when we allow God to put His truth in the middle of our feelings in worship and prayers. When you pray, cry out with faith, and receive with thanksgiving.

No matter what you’re go through, you can have a total victory if you have the promises of God and take your circumstances before God in prayer and worship, obeying the promises He has established in the Bible for your own benefit, declaring what Jeremiah 29:11 says : “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”.

Don’t be discouraged, don’t let fear, depression or sadness control you. Remember what is written in Psalm 27: 13-14: “I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord”.
